Terms of Service

Effective date: 23 February 2026

Who we are

Squezr is a free, browser-based toolset for compressing images and editing file metadata. It is operated as an independent project. By using the site you agree to these terms.

The service

Squezr provides tools that run entirely in your browser:

  • Image Compressor — compress JPEG, PNG, and WebP files to a target file size.
  • Metadata Editor — read, edit, and strip metadata (EXIF, IPTC, XMP, PDF doc info, audio tags) from images, PDFs, and audio files.

All processing happens locally in your browser. No files are uploaded to our servers.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Squezr to:

  • Process files that contain malware, exploits, or other malicious content with intent to exploit the processing pipeline.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or automate the service in a way that harms availability for other users.
  • Misrepresent the output of the tools (for example, falsely claiming that metadata has been fully stripped when further verification is required).
  • Violate any applicable law, including copyright law with respect to files you process.

You are solely responsible for the files you process and any use you make of the output. We provide the tool; we have no visibility into or control over your files.

No warranty

Squezr is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the tools will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that compression or metadata removal will achieve any particular result. Always verify critical output independently — especially for privacy-sensitive use cases such as metadata purging before sharing files.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Squezr and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed zero, as the service is provided free of charge.

Intellectual property

The Squezr name, logo, and site design are our property. The open-source libraries used (pdf-lib, music-metadata-browser, exifr, etc.) are subject to their own licences. Your files remain entirely your own — we claim no rights over content you process.

Future subscriptions

We may introduce optional paid tiers in the future. Any subscription terms, pricing, cancellation, and refund policy will be published before purchase and will form a separate addendum to these terms. Existing free functionality will remain free.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Continued use of the service after a revision constitutes acceptance of the new terms. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the latest version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
